OUR COMMUNITY

Community & Impact

We are proud to partner with programs like the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team (LMRDT), mentoring emerging Indigenous talent and fostering community connections. Our impact framework measures outcomes in employment, training, and social impact.

Our director THOMAS EVANS, a retired professional rugby union player, has been involved with the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team (LMRDT) for over 25 years and currently serves as President. His long-standing commitment, which saw him also serve on the Board as Executive Officer, Treasurer and Director, has been central to LMRDT’s growth as a national organisation dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth through rugby, education, and leadership.

Driven by a belief in the power of sport to transform lives, Tom has helped shape programs that support education, leadership, and cultural identity. Tom was instrumental in launching the Ella 7s in 2008, an event that began with just 10 male and 3 female teams and has grown to host 60 teams in 2025. Now recognised as Australia’s leading Indigenous rugby sevens tournament for both men and women, the event reaches over 1,200 participants each year and delivers outcomes in sport, cultural celebration, health promotion, and career development.

Through Tom’s leadership, LMRDT continues to provide young people with opportunities to connect, lead, and thrive, on and off the field.
